Make Google search the default search engine in your browser

In Edge the default search engine is Bing, but you can set the default search engine to Google.

Also in Chrome you can set the default browser to Google, when it was changed to a different search engine. Don’t forget that you can also set Chrome as your default browser in Windows for an even more Google-y experience.

Change default search engine to Google in Edge

Open Edge.

Click at the (three dots) menu icon in the upper right side.

The menu will open.

Click ‘Settings’ at the end of the menu.

 Scroll down until you see ‘View advanced settings’.

Click on it.

 
 In Advanced Settings, scroll down until you see ‘Change Search Engine’.

Click on it.

 
 Now a list with search engines should open.

If Google.com is listed, click on it, and click then on ‘Set as default’.

 
 Is Google not listed? This means you never visited Google in Edge.

Open a new tab and write ‘google.com’ in the address bar. Click enter.

In Google, enter a random search in the search bar. Click Enter.

Now return to the previous step, and Google should be listed in the list of search engines.

 
 You’re done!

To test that your search engines is changed, type a random search in the address bar.

Now ‘Google’ search should be displayed next to the search results. When you click enter, the results will be shown in Google.

 

Change default search engine to Google in Chrome

Open Chrome.

Click on the (three dots) menu icon in the upper right side of the browser in order to open the menu.

When the menu opens, click on ‘settings’.

Now the settings page will open.

In Settings, scroll down until you see ‘Search’.

Click on the current search engine, and a drop down list will open.  Select ‘Google’ from the list.

That’s it!

To see that the search engine has changed, open a new tab and enter a random search in the address bar, and hit enter.

The search results will be displayed in Google.
