I recently decided that I wanted to start a minecraft let’s play on youtube, and to do that, I needed a microphone. I’d been told that the easiest way to do it was to have a headset microphone thing. I just bought a new set of headphones with an in-line microphone connected to them (literally half an hour ago). I plugged them into the computer to make sure that it was working, and I can hear all the sounds (YAY!). However, when I went to test if the microphone was picking up my voice, the voice recorder said it could not pick up a microphone. So I unplugged my headphones, moved them to the other jack (the microphone jack), and it picked up my headphone mic this time. However, it could not pick up my voice. Worried it was something with my brand new headphones, I went to my phone to test them with a skype call. It picked up my voice perfectly in the skype call. 🙁 So then I did some research and came upon this post: http://win10faq.com/fix-microphone-settings/
I followed everything to a T in the first part. It still didn’t pick up my voice. I went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, still didn’t pick up my voice. 🙁
It’s an infinitive headset with metal earbuds, in-line microphone from Walgreens. I believe my computer is a 64 bit, if I remember correctly.
