Hi I have just upgraded my window 10 like a week ago. Everything works perfectly fine until today, my microphone was no working well. My friend could hear me a bit but very quiet, they i went to test my microphone and there are no green bars at all. Therefore I went to update my driver but it doesnt work. I tried to set my volume up but nothing changes. So i wonder what is happening to my computer?

Hi there,

Here are a few questions you could answer to help us narrow down the issue:
a. What is the make and model no. of your computer?
b. Are you referring to a built-in mic or is it an external one? Please provide the make and model no. in case it is an external mic.

Windows 10 provides 2 pre-installed audio troubleshooters. In your case, please refer to the following steps to run the recording audio troubleshooter:

a) Click on Search on the Taskbar.
b) Type Troubleshooter in the Search box and then press Enter.
c) Select Troubleshooting. Click on View All and select Recording audio.
d) Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Also, let us know the information asked above, so that we could help you install the correct version of the audio driver compatible with Windows 10.

Keep us posted! 🙂

Hi Kafu,

Thank you for the detailed response. Much appreciated!

As per the Fujitsu support for your Lifebook model no. AH544, you need to use the pre-upgrade version of the audio driver as is. You can download the following audio driver and install the same with Windows 8.1 compatibility settings.

Step 1: Download and save the driver on the desktop from the following link.

http://www.fujitsu.com/downloads/COMP/fpcap/fsdm/FPC48-0747-01_Audio_6.0.1.7016_37.7z

Step 2:
Install the driver in compatibility mode.

  • Right click on the driver, and click on Properties.
  • Go to the Compatibility tab.
  • Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for:
  • Select Windows 8 (or 8.1) from the list of Operating systems.
  • Click OK.
  • Double-click the driver file to install the driver and follow the onscreen instructions.

Reboot your computer.

Let us know the results for any further assistance.

I m sorry I have never done this before but there are quite a lot in the file can you explain a bit in detail please. For the driver file do you mean ChCfg? Thank You.

I understand your concern.

When you download from the mentioned Fujitsu link, you would find a .7z format file getting downloaded. This is a pack of files similar to the compressed .zip files. When you extract multiple files out of those files into a folder, you will be able to see a file with .exe extension. That is the file you need to install after making the compatibility mode changes (as mention in Step 2 of my previous response).

Thank you for reporting back!

Do you have any pending Windows Updates?

Check in the Windows Updates (including optional updates) if any new definition of the driver is available. Install the driver definition and verify if the screen still freezes.
