The default browser with Windows 10 is Edge.
This means that any time a web browser is opened (for example by clicking on a link from an email program) the link is opened in Edge.
However, you can easily make Chrome your default browser by following the steps below.
Make Chrome Your Default Browser
Click on the Search icon in the lower left part of your screen. | ![]() ![]() |
Type ‘Default’.
Now ‘Default Programs’ will show up. Click on it. |

A settings window will open with the Default Apps.
Scroll down until you see ‘Web Browser’, followed with an icon of Microsoft Edge. Click on Microsoft Edge. |

A drop down will open with different web browser options.
Click on Chrome. Is Chrome not there in the list? Then it is probably not installed on your computer. |

You’re done!
Close the settings window by clicking on the X icon at the right top of the window. |

Install Chrome
Go to the chrome webpage in your browser (Edge or any other).
Click on ‘Download Chrome’. |

A screen will pop up with the terms and agreements.
Disable the checkbox with the text ‘Help Google make better by automatically sending usage statistics and crash reports to Google’ by clicking on it. Click ‘Accept and Install’. |

A grey bar will appear at the bottom of your screen asking: ‘What do you want to do with ChomeSetup.exe?’.
Click ‘Save’. |

Now the grey bar will say: ‘ChromeSetup.exe finished downloading’.
Click on ‘Run’. |

Do you want this app to make changes to your device?
Click ‘Yes’. |

Now Chrome is being installed.
The modal will say ‘Downloading’ and ‘Installing’. |

When Chrome is done installing, it will open a Chrome browser window.
This means that Chrome is installed. You’re done! |
